Artists: Haitian Institute of DC
The Haitian Institute of Washington, D.C. is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting an understanding and appreciation of Haitian culture and society. It is not affiliated with any government, or any political party or movement. Proceeds from the sale of this cookbook are used for the Institute's charitable activities in both the U.S. and in Haiti.
The book - "Art and Soul of Haitian Cooking" is more than just a cookbook; it is a 264-page, hardbound reflection of the flavor and spirit of a people. A partner in The Electric Gallery, Tania Beckham, is one of the four authors. In addition to hundreds of authentic recipes, it includes a cornucopia of Haitian proverbs, and is richly illustrated with Haitian art from our gallery. Our cookbook was first place winner in the Morris Cookbook Awards for 2002, and is now in its third printing.
