Artists: Philome Obin
Born in 1892 near Cap Haitien, Philome Obin is one of the founding fathers of modern Haitian art.
He headed the annex of the Centre d'art which opened in 1945. He subsequently painted two of the famous murals of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Port-au-Prince. He founded an entire art movement, commonly known as the "Cap Haitien School."
Several of his children and grandchildren, including Telemaque and Donald, have become famous and widely-collected artists.
