Artists: Raymond Lafaille
Raymond Lafaille is a Port-au-Prince painter whose style obviously has been infuenced by the master Claude Dambreville. Lafaille uses the same muted colors and dark shadows to depict street and market scenes. Born in 1956, Lafaille is one of the most versatile Haitian artists, known for his country scenes as well as his Danbreville influenced "shadow" style market scenes.
Lafaille has had many exhibits in the Dominican Republic, where he's gained recognition as an accomplished artist. In his studio in Port au Prince, Lafaille can be found on any given day surrounded by young aspiring artists who seek his guidance.
