Artist's comments |
(eGallery Note): This painting is one of the few of the artist's "Spanish Period." These were painted in the mid-late 1950s when Gourge lived in Spain with his Spanish-born wife. The contrast between this piece and his later ones is remarkable in terms of both color, design, and mood. We suspect that Gourge was in contact with, or at the least influenced by the work of Pablo Picasso in this period. This is a large, heavy piece. Pricing includes shipping and insurance to the lower 48 US states. |
