"The Hoatzins are very quiet birds; they live in the black lakes of the Peruvian jungle or tahuampales (dumps). Around them we can see trees that are used in medicine such as Oje, renaco with some lianas on it. We also see a parasite plant called Itininga. In the water, behind the Oje, we can appreciate some small plants with stings called Nejilla with big leaves. It is a kind of palm tree. In the middle we have the Lobo-Muena tree whose fruits are especially used in traditional medicine." |
