Antonio Joseph
eGallery Note: This large and unusual painting has a well documented history. It was purchased from the artist in 1978 by Ute Stebich, specifically for inclusion in the 1978 Brooklyn Museum exhibit of Haitian art. Stebich is best known for her wonderful book "Haitian Art," which is a standard reference work on this subject. She was also curator of the Flagg Tanning collection of Haitian art at the Milwaukee Art Center.

A collector/gallery owner purchased the painting from Stebich in 1980, and owned it until we acquired it from her. She will be pleased to document this in a formal letter.
